This is a course package talks about the LTE NAS introduction involving NAS protocol description
Overview of LTE Non-Access Stratum (NAS)
The Non-Access Stratum (NAS) in LTE (Long-Term Evolution) is a functional layer between the User Equipment (UE) and the Core Network (Evolved Packet Core – EPC). It is responsible for mobility management, session management, authentication, security, and NAS signaling procedures. NAS messages are exchanged between the UE and the Mobility Management Entity (MME) over the S1-MME interface.
Summary of LTE NAS Features
✅ Handles mobility and session management
✅ Enables secure communication through encryption and authentication
✅ Manages EPS bearer establishment for QoS-driven data services
✅ Ensures efficient paging and location update mechanisms
✅ Uses NAS security to prevent eavesdropping and tampering
